Canada: we need to give true local executive powers to our elected members of Provincial and Federal Parliaments ASAP.

We must reform rapidly our British parliamentary system that provides NO TRUE POWER to our local elected provincial and federal members of provincial or federal Parliaments.

It is a big illusion. There is no power in the hands of the elected unless they are members of the Cabinet / government - a very small minority. Why would anyone want to spend 4 years in Parliament with no power to help his own citizens where he is elected? It is all about prestige and celebrity, with no tools or legal powers to resolve anything whatsoever.

The illusion of power: we provide our elected officials with a nice office and employees but all they can do is vote laws, amend laws, terminate laws or create new laws. The elected has no power at all upon the ministries or public servants. It is a big masquerade.

Most citizens who have issues will go to the office of the elected to fix issues but the elected politicians have ZERO POWER to do anything whatsoever besides begging public servants for help. Is this normal ? Not at all!

Furthermore, if you add insult to the injury, because of the British parliamentary system that favors huge political parties in Canada (and its Provinces) that impose a SEVERE PARTY LINE to all elected officials limiting drastically the ability of our elected officials to express themselves freely and to also vote freely. ANOTHER ABSURDITY.

bottom-line: our members of Parliament HAVE NO EXECUTIVE POWER, LITTLE LIBERTY OF EXPRESSION INCLUDING DISSENSION, THEY MUST FOLLOW A PARTY LINE LIKE A HEARD OF SHEEP IF NOT THEY ARE EXPULSED FROM THEIR PARTY AND GOOD LUCK GETTING RE-ELECTED!

THIS IS OUR CANADIAN DEMOCRACY in a nutshell. You then wonder why there is so much status quo, immobility & corruption. Most of the power lies either in the government - federal and provincial - but the vast majority of the power is with the public servants, the Privy Council that represents both the UK monarchy & public servant.

Easily: We must reform & improve the British Parliamentary system in order to provide our local elected members of provincial or federal parliaments with true local executive powers like the elected city councilor have. They could then resolve local issues rapidly because the government has no time to resolve small and local issues.

This would reduce long delays and help reinstate faith in our political system. Our citizens would obtain better customer service from their politicians. If more decisions are taken locally by the elected officials then the citizens would believe more in the system.

We also need more FREE VOTES, more freedom of opinion from the elected officials ASAP!

Our governments do NOT have time to manage & resolve micro problems but local politicians do.

Imagine if they only could!
